Street Art is often left in the dark at night.
With this project I aim to counter this by adding an extra dimension of light to the works at night by using projection mapping.
Extremes
-
Projection mapping installation for Delta Light at the botanical gardens of Meise, Belgium.
-
The desert is the most extreme place on Earth. It rarely rains and it can go from intensely hot to freezing cold - and back - in 24 hours.
Desert plants have developed ingenious ways to adapt to any of these circumstances. At Lightlab we made it rain in the desert. There was light and darkness There was life, sound and even lass-ohs.
Discover light, engineered to meet the most extreme needs.

Urban Crafts by Hello Bank is a competition founded to support young crafters.
This year I've been selected to join the competition.
Alexander’s Urban Craft is about building audiovisual installations. Alexander Stragier offers a unique mix of audio and video. Today, he wants to continue experimenting as a cause of his result-oriented approach and come up with new creations. Alexander likes to surprise the audience with numerous projects. He obliged himself to learn every day, but he already has a broad knowledge with which he always starts. As a visual artist, he surprised his audience with a play of dark and light. His dream is to continue doing business and also to evolve successfully.

Projection mapping installation as product presentation for Curana at Eurobike 2015 in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
Quote from their website:
On our Eurobike 2015 Curana booth, we are proud to introduce a promising visual artist from Belgium, Alexander Stragier, who will create an unique, contemporary and interactive visual installation on our booth, by means of 3D projection mapping.
Static pictures of our latest developments will come alive and will offer an astonishing artistic experience.
The magic of Alexanders work lies in the suspension of disbelief and the creative use of light, combining photography with projection. At first seeming to simply illuminate, the images are morphing over time and become 3D interactive structures.
We believe in creative talent and want to give Alexander the opportunity to expose his skills towards an international audience."

"We have seen it so often. Too often. We feel so little. Today there is war and it will be there again tomorrow. Always. At the merest trifle lives are taken for no reason at all. Mother, father, son, daughter. All of them are mercilessly sentenced to the wrong death."
-
"We zien het zo vaak. Te vaak. We voelen soms zo weinig. Vandaag is er oorlog en dan morgen ook opnieuw. Altijd. Om de haverklap valt ergens wel een dode. Moeder, vader, zoon, dochter. Mensenlevens die te vaak genadeloos tot de verkeerde soort dood veroordeeld worden."
With Today is Death Alexander wants to emphasise the overall presence of war in our current society. Through the repititive representatation of war people get used to its affressive nature. It has become a kind of standard in our daily life, rooted in the deepest fundaments. We also feel like it will never disappear from our society. Through his work Alexander froces you into the cold repetition of blood-stained aversion. In that process he leaves room for the audience to feel something. Or to feel nothing at all.
-
